of the leading estates in Rioja, Bodegas Lan make outstanding, barrel aged
wines, of great concentration and depth. Fermented in stainless steel
followed by at least 12 months in oak, cherry red in colour with hints of new
leather and tobacco on the bouquet, quite spicy with soft berry fruit
flavours.

Côtes de Gascogne, Domaine Alain Lalanne (France) £14.55
One
of the first and arguably the best producer in the area, Alain uses Ugni
Blanc and Colombard grapes, the result
is a superbly fresh fruity, medium dry wine with hints of citrus fruit and
crimson apples, great with or without food.

Aussie blend, yet a rarity from Australia, a wine which is not all booze and

the mighty Andes this wine has apricots and fresh flower blossom leaping from
the glass, drinks well with or without food.

first Bouchon came to Chile’s Maule Valley in the late 19th century from his native
Bordeaux to set up the winery. Profound and dark with blackcurrant and bramble
berry fruit, complimented by a brush of oak, it has a slightly minty
freshness, a wine that is easy to drink indeed…

Pinot Grigio, Piave, Soravalle (Italy) £16.95
The
vineyards for Soravalle Pinot Grigio are located between 200 and 800 metres
above sea level in the north of Italy. After cool fermentation the juice is
rested on the lees (skins and stalks), to add complexity, a rich nose with
hints of pear and banana, dry, full and very fresh taste.

Sportoletti estate in Spello, the neighboring town to Assisi, has taken the
quality of winemaking at the estate into the international league. Red
cherry, toasted nut/lava earth aromas. Quite intense cherry, iron, mineral
action in the mouth. This has decent flesh but also a serious backbone

Savary is based in Maligny. His style shows the classic wet stone delicacies
