Welcome from Caroline Money, President, Rotary Club of Attleborough

Rotarians are local people who want to make a difference. Through our Club we regularly raise approximately £2000 each year to support local charities.

We meet every Tuesday evening, from 6 pm for a couple of hours, which includes a meal, at Sherbounre House.

Our club, like others, looks to achieve a cross section of people from the local business and professional community.

We are keen to welcome new members, so please contact David Kerr, Secretary, if you would like to know more, on 01379 687488.

Serving our community

Each year we aim to raise funds for our local community. We chose a local charity to support and for 2008/2009 this is to be that of  the Attleborough Town  Mayor's own Children's charity.

In the past we have raised funds for the East Anglian Air Ambulance, Hearing Dogs for the Deaf, Quidenham Hospice, Macmillian Cancer Relief and Attleborough First Responders..

Our fund raising activities include:
- Strawberry and Champagne Evening in June, at The Rose Garden
- Business Quiz Evening in September
- Tombolia Stalls at the Attleborough Carnival and Christmas Fayre
- Coffee Mornings

Helping those in need - international support

Our fundraising also supports international projects. We have sent several emergency boxes, following international disasters e.g. Tsunami and Pakistan earthquake.Theses boxes provide basic essential supplies such as tents, clothes, blankets, cookware, toiletries and tools.

This year we are supporting the Armani Centre in Tanzania. Following severe drought, some 4 million people have been under the shadow of famine.
The Armani Centre cares for people with disabilities.

History of Rotary

Rotary started in American in 1905, bringing together a few businessman of different trades, at regular intervals, to help each other in business.

It was not long before the idea of service to local community was introduced.

By 1911 the concept had spread across the Atlantic to London, Dublin and Belfast.

Rotary International is the world's largest service organisation for business and professional people, with some 1,210,905 members operating in 168 countries worldwide.
